IES is a specialist manufacturer of packing cases and crates suitable for every purpose and condition. Our cases use softwood which conforms to ISPM 15 regulations, and we adhere to BS1133:8 standards. We are MPAS accredited for military packaging, and use this knowledge and experience in the export packing services we provide.

Guide to Ply Batten Crate and Full Timber Crate Range
Softwood / Ply Batten Crate
A choice of three bases; standard (up to 1000Kg or dependent on load spread), machine / robust (over 1000kg) and vibration-isolation, with an option to up-rate for heavier items. Sides, ends and lid made from construction grade 9mm plywood with either 95x19mm softwood battens or, for larger cases, 150 x 19mm softwood batten. These crates can be supplied flat packed or fully assembled, and include internal bracing if requested or if packed by IES.
Close Boarded Full Timber Crate
With sides, ends and lid made from 150 x 22mm sawn timber. Suitable for larger or heavier items, these crates are packed in the same way as our basic ply cases, with bracing and crushers. A waterproof lining paper can be added.
Skeletal Crate
Lighter but more labour intensive to manufacture; thus priced relatively to our basic ply batten crates. Skeletal crates are inherently less secure and more open to the environment. They can be used as an easy solution to provide protection for goods that only really need to be secured to a pallet.
Pallet Box
These are basic wooden bases with a cardboard sleeve and lid, making them a cost effective option which is suitable for shipping smaller items. A more robust alternative would be tri-wall wrap-around boxes.
Bespoke Options
Bespoke options are available for ply batten crates or full timber crates. These include: An integral ramp for packing and unpacking where lifting equipment is not available, internal shelving, saddles (to secure cylindrical items during shipment), customised foam inserts, wheels, a hinged lid, clip fastening or a viewing door.
Exhibition / Reusable Crate
With wheels and clip fasteners for easy access and re-use.
